Course

The city centre of Rotterdam is the spectacular setting for the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in 2017. The skyline of Rotterdam is a popular backdrop for  international sporting events and the city promisses to be a special venue for triathletes.

 

Course Agegroups

Starting in the Rijnhaven and finishing at the Veerhaven the agegroup course for swimming and running is largely similar to the course for para athletes and elite athletes. The bike course leads participants along the Meuse river, crossing the Erasmus Bridge, Willems Bridge and Van Brienenoord Bridge.

Depending on their distance of choice (spint distance or olympic distance) participants will swim, cycle and run a part of the course in, along and over the Meuse river which runs through the heart of the city.

Course Elite race

The start of the competition for elite athletes takes place at the Kop van Zuid with the swimming in the Rijnhaven. The transition from swimming (1500m) to cycling takes place in front of Hotel New York. After crossing the Erasmusbrug the athletes will cycle (40km) and run (10km) trough the Scheepvaart quarter. The transition area and finish are located at the Veerhaven.

Course Paratriathlon

For competitors in the Paratriathlon World Championships the swimming in the Veerhaven (750m) will be followed by 20 km of cycling (hand bike/tandem) and 5 km of running (wheeling) in the Scheepvaart quarter and in the park near the Euromast. The finish for the para athletes will be at the Veerhaven.
